beverly hills, 90210
basically westbeverly is taken from "beverly hills, 90210," the show about a group of teenagers living in the upscale, star-studded community of beverly hills, california who attend the fictitious west beverly hills high school, and if graduating, maybe california university. all characters will attend or just graduated from west beverly. characters in attendance at wb will be sophomores, juniors, or seniors, but as a twist, your character can also be a recent graduate, spending the summer in beverly hills or waiting to attend the also fictitious california university. your character's age can be from 16 to 19. if you want some information on beverly hills and the neighborhoods, check out beverly hills, ca.

our intro
since your character is required to make an intro, then it's only fair that we introduce ourselves first. this community has moderators who have modded great, longlasting, and friendly games before. we came up with this place based on how fun previous communities like it have been (like all the oc games on greatestjournal.com (may it r.i.p.)). what we want to do with this place is basically provide all the details to you first in the form of premades and information. sure, it's risky, and maybe it's not a popular idea right now, but i think that if you just give it a shot, you could be really inspired to have a great summer game that eventually can become a long lasting community. that's why this game was made, just to inspire something within another writer and let them take the ball and roll with it. our plans for this community are just to make sure that it's active and fun at all times. we want to have actual group scenes, aim buddies, themed weeks, awards, gossip columns, facebook directories, and just put back the carefree side to rp that isn't serious but is entertaining and reliable to cure boredom when nothing else will. so welcome to westbeverly, and i hope you're as excited and ready to play as we are. however, to do all this, we need activity on your part. it's the most important thing in keeping a place alive. so give this your best effort and don't rely on others to make a game fun. it's up to you to turn around rp communities.

some rules
we're doing name journals and screennames, so we're going with traditional. please do not have any other words, letters, or _'s that do not relate to your character's name in the username. it is confusing, and we're definitely saving you some grief as to how that kind of thing appears to others. it's not that we're elitist but sparklyanna and __williamxxx just don't look right for this type of game. you'll also need a friends only/spam post before joining.

so now you're almost ready to apply. you need to make a storyline post in [info]californians before you can comment the app post. since we're not requiring bios/facts, the storyline post is required. this is just so we know that that you're being active with the character and finding the storylines set in your premade. you'll need the link to the storyline post for the application. you can still pimp in [info]rps but we don't want to flood our ads and it's easier to go to one place to find what you're looking for.

activity is all based on what you put into this game. obviously you know what's like to be in an active game and what it's like to be in a game where no one cares. so you make the decision to update your journal when you want to, how you want to. however, you must must must make an intro within 3 days of being accepted, and then you must make your first journal entry within 7 days. after that, you've got one update every two weeks, but keep in mind, your pb or premade can be overridden if you become inactive. we will check inactivity every sunday. you shouldn't have to force things out of yourself but you should be keeping up with the game as well.

events, gossip column, fun activities. we're planning a lot of this stuff. the main thing is events. we want to do a lot of them, and just have something new and different than isn't the typical "dance, beauty pageant, popularity contest" thing but just real actual events that will be interesting to write. for that reason, an event calendar will be posted every monday with new things to do that week and then scene placeholders will be made in partyhouse, so get ready for that. suggestions are always welcome for events, please pm this journal. the gossip column will be posted at the end of the week, and will talk about what's going on with the most active characters in an intelligent, sophisticated way that will still be perezcious and scandalous. pictures of your character may be used but nothing that is too outlandish. if you don't agree to your character being in the gossip column, that's completely fine. just let us know on your application. fun activities for writers are going to be themed contests, best/funniest/most romantic scenes, character awards (which will happen after the first month), and other suggestions are welcome with that too. we just have a lot of great ideas for this place.

all of the subcomms were designed around hangouts that west beverly kids frequent. [info]peachpit is the random community. the peach pit is located across from school and was also featured on the television show as the place that everyone hung around the most. [info]cantina is the concert/music venue/bar/club located in beverly hills and offers the best in local bands. this will be the lyrics community. [info]baitshack is located out on the beach. you can buy food, rent cabanas or jet skis and pick up fishing equipment. since it's out on the beach, it will be the ooc community.

okay the last and final thing before i let you get into setting up your character: please don't join and die off. we're all guilty of it, and we all know why. something else pops up, you never liked the character to begin with, the sl backed down, etc, etc. please don't quit. this game can be so amazing if we all just really branch out of our comfort zone and don't blame everything on being aim shy. i truly remember when everyone used to talk to everyone. ooc drama shouldn't run how you roleplay a character with someone else, because rping is just like any other game. you have to play to win, and i think the best way to deal with ooc issues is to forgive and forget, and don't let things change how you would write a character: i.e. not being afraid to im someone new or make storylines with new writers. so i'm just asking to be considerate of others and to put your best effort into being active. i think if we all do that, then we can have a really amazing game! also separate your ooc personality from the ic character. we can all get back to rping this way.

FACULTY
These are the premades for administration and teachers that are most known around West Beverly.

The English Professor (m)
He's been at WB for a couple years now. He revolutionized the English department with his contemporary way of teaching, which turned all the kids onto him. The girls all love him because of his looks, but everyone else just likes him because he's cool and doesn't act like he has a stick up his ass. However, being so friendly has a price, and no one dislikes him more than The Pritchard. However, The English Professor harbors no grudges and just plays on his acoustic when he needs to relieve stress. Oh yea, he used to be in a rock band. He's going through a divorce right now with his wife, The Everyone's Favorite Cheerleader, and that's also been causing problems.

The Fresh Outta College Dance Fashionista (f)
She is a new addition to West Beverly as the fashion teacher and dance coach, but she used to be a student, graduated class of 2003. Who knows why she decided to come back but all the guys are grateful that she did. She's considered the new hottie, which doesn't sit well with The Everyone's Favorite Cheerleader. However, they're still some sort of frenemies and have been getting along, since neither relates to old stuffy teachers like Mrs. Haywood, the math teacher. Since she's been at WB, the dance team and fashion department have improved by leaps and bounds. The team won a state title while the fashion shows have added an anticipated event to the student calendar, much better than any talent show.

The Prickly Pritchard Dean (m)
There's hardly anyone who doesn't know this fellow. He's got the kind of personality that makes that guy on Nip/Tuck so awesome but pure evil. All the students know him for being a jerk, and most of the faculty would concur. However, there's nothing you can do about his place at WB. He's been there for at least five years and will eventually become the Principal. Everyone's dreading the day, but it seems like he will never go away, a fact which he's proud of. He doesn't mind that he's the most disliked in the administration.

The Hardass Football Coach (m)
Everyone knows his story. He was the All-American top pick for every college in the nation, and he went off to USC just like everyone knew he would. However, he didn't do so well. In his first year at college, his mother died after a long battle with cancer, and that began his own battle with depression, drugs, and alcohol. Eventually he came back to Beverly Hills, and even though he had to do nothing being the son of someone as rich as his father, he wanted to do something. So he became the new assistant to the old coach. He also used to go to WB but he was never a scholar. He's pushing the football program to new heights and is destined to become the new coach when his mentor Coach Reynolds retires. With rugged good looks and silent but deadly personality, he's not a favorite of everybody but definitely the ladies.

The Everyone's Favorite Cheerleader (cheerleading coach, f)
As a student at West Beverly, she was a legacy, much like her ex-boyfriend at the time The Hardass Football Coach. Gorgeous, clever, and manipulative, she had the whole school at her feet. As a cheerleader, she got the most attention and went on to perform as a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader. However, she came back to West Beverly a few years ago with her new husband, The English Professor. She wanted to just have a normal life, but he wanted to be a teacher. However, she was always the bread winner in the family since she came from money herself, and this offered them a lot of problems, paired with her jealousy over his relationships with females and his own problems with her relationship with The Hardass Football Coach, now that he's back. Now going through a divorce, life's been very topsy turvy for her, and she's just had to focus on the cheerleading team and her own boutique shop in Beverly Hills.
